Watch for Patients Getting Meds to Prevent HIV After Exposure

You play a key role in properly dispensing meds for HIV POST-exposure prophylaxis (PEP).

The goal of PEP is to lower risk of getting HIV AFTER a possible exposure...such as after unprotected sex with a partner whose HIV status is unknown or after a workplace exposure (needlestick, etc).

This is different than PRE-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for HIV...where patients with ongoing risk of HIV take preventive meds long-term.
