SSRI (sertraline, etc) or SNRI (venlafaxine, etc) antidepressants are usually used first if meds are needed for anxiety...they have the best evidence. But it can take about 2 to 4 weeks to start seeing benefit.

Watch for common mix-ups. For example, it can be easy to mistake citalopram for escitalopram...or duloxetine for paroxetine or fluoxetine.
