You'll hear about separating oral meds from the potassium binders, sodium polystyrene sulfonate (Kayexalate, etc) and patiromer (Veltassa).

The concern is that potassium binders could bind to other oral meds...and reduce the absorption of the other drugs.

The latest recommendation is to take oral meds at least 3 hours before or 3 hours after sodium polystyrene sulfonate or patiromer. Help get these patients on appropriate administration schedules.
